Volubilis which is popularly regarded as the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Mauritania, is a city located very close to Meknes in a fertile agricultural environment. It developed from the 3rd Century BC onward as a Berber, then Proto –Cartaginian settlement before being the Capital of the Kingdom of Mauritania. Volubilis is an half excavated Berber and Roman city in Morocco. Talking about the most important Roman Archaeological site in Morocco, the ruins of the Roman town of Volubilis is located in the Middle atlas between Fez and Rabat.
